Things in Motion...
01st December 2024
I've been indulging in an exercise in nostalgia for the past year or so - a complete scan of my comic archive stretching back 35 years or more. Partly this is practical - I have all of the art, but no back up should my house burn down, for example. As the tally of pages numbers around 400 sheets, it would be quite a loss.
It is also a bit of a recycling exercise - all my art prior to starting the ESPF series uploaded on this website was hand-lettered and, frankly, awful as a result.
Luckily, I have around fifty painted pages of art from around 1990 where I had lettered onto acetate sheets laid over the top - this lettering is easily removed and as these pages comprise a complete story, I have re-worked the script to suit current continuity and am currently re-lettering on the computer. Hopefully, something will be ready for upload in the New Year and I will add a few samples to the 'work in progress' portfolio soon.
The ESPF were not the biggest stars of my early work, but they do feature heavily in a few adventures, alongside the Astrologers. Fancying a challenge, I have also taken this B&W art and, to get rid of the drawn on lettering, re-traced the ink work and for a few pages, re-drawn and added a little more original art to fit with slightly amended scripts. These will get coloured and be published on the website during 2025.
Next in line is something I've made an annual tradition - a new text story to coincide with Christmas (although, of course, in the 44th Century, they do not call it that). Writing concluded on this yesterday and I'll pen a few images and put this ready under the 'text stories' tab before the 25th. It's an ESPF tale and introduces Sebastian Tudor III - the King of the Moon! (Really - an actual monarch!) He will be among you soon...
